LITTLE FERRY, N.J. — An annual Tricky Tray will be held on Nov. 7 to help raise funds and support St. Margaret of Cortona R.C. Church in Little Ferry.

“It’s about faith and family,” Ray said. “It brings the community together.”

Hosted by Little Ferry residents Ray and Cheryl Vorisek, this is the fifth annual event. “I am 59 and have been going to the church my whole life,” said Ray Vorisek, a lifelong borough resident. “I was baptized there. My children now serve on the altar there.”

The couple is hoping to gain more attention for the event and help the Chamberlain Avenue church, amid attention from an incident in which authorities said the Rev. Kevin Carter pointed a Civil War-era musket at a boy.

“This is one of the top three fundraisers of the year that the church has,” Ray said.

Funds will go towards helping to pay for heating costs in the winter and other parish needs.

Tickets are $25 per person and include a small package of tickets, pasta, salad, dessert, wine and soda. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door.

There are four levels of prizes ranging from jewelry to sports memorabilia. Grand prizes include a flat-screen television, New York Football Giants tickets and Radio City Music Hall tickets.

“It’s about faith and family,” Ray said. “It brings the community together.”
